We’ve only been in India for a week, but already it feels like we’ve had a million food adventures! Coming from New York, you’d think we would have more experience with this cuisine, but the truth is we really know almost nothing about Indian food. As such, we’ve been ordering at random every time we need to eat, and we haven’t been disappointed yet! This week’s photo is thali, which is like a sampler with all kinds of different flavors. They have been our favorite because you get to taste a bunch of different things and they usually include something sweet like the honey soaked ball of bread or dough or something you see in this one. Delicious!

The syrup soaked ball is called a gulab jamun and it’s DELISH! are you in Gujarat? I’m so jealous! Have an awesome time 🙂 The thali is always a winner.
Right now we are in Hampi, but we leave for Mysore tomorrow. When we were eating this, we were in Mumbai. You are going to have to teach me how to cook some things when we return to the States!
Yummy! Looks delicious – looking forward to India! Safe travels guys! We fly to Finland on Sunday! xoxo
Finland…probably not nearly as humid as India! Can’t wait to read about your next leg of adventures 🙂
Oh YUM!!! Is it as noisy and chaotic in Indian cities as we see in the movies?
Mostly yes 🙂 It’s chaotic and insane and wonderful all at the same time!
Just don’t eat from the street carts. Nico’s stomach had some bad experiences with that! Looks wonderful.
We haven’t tried the street food yet, which is unusual for us, but we have been more cautious than usual here…
I jumped to tell you what the honey soaked thing is called…. but i was late i guess. 🙂
Glad to know you loved Indian food !
I hope your stomach handles it well. All the best !
Indian food is fantastic, even though my stomach only handles it well some of the time!
